PRINCESS CRUISE INJURY LAWYERS

Injured on a Princess cruise?

Princess sails large ships from U.S. ports such as Los Angeles and Fort Lauderdale to Alaska, the Caribbean, Europe and beyond, and many guests join shore excursions and tours that mean long days ashore. That means busy decks, remote ports and sometimes long distances from a hospital. If you were hurt, your Princess ticket can decide where and how fast you have to act.

ABOUT PRINCESS

Who you would be making a claim against.

Princess Cruises was founded in 1965 and is owned by Carnival Corporation, which also owns Carnival Cruise Line, Holland America Line and Cunard. The line is based in Santa Clarita, California. Like any large cruise operator, it has insurers and in-house lawyers, so what you tell them early can affect your claim.

WHAT TO DO AFTER AN INCIDENT

01

Report it onboard

Ask for a copy of the incident report before you leave the ship.

02

Document the scene

Photograph the hazard, the location, and any posted signage or lack of it.

03

Get seen onboard

A visit to the ship’s medical center creates a record with the date and time. Keep every bill and receipt.

04

Call before you settle anything

What you tell Princess or its insurers early can affect your claim later, so do not sign a release or accept a payment before you call.

PRINCESS-SPECIFIC QUESTIONS

How long do I have to file a claim against Princess?

Princess’s ticket contract, like most, can set a short deadline and name the court you must use. Most cruise tickets give you one year to file, and often six months to give written notice. Because the exact terms depend on your ticket, we check the contract that applies to you.

Princess is based in California but incorporated in Bermuda. Does that matter?

It can. The company has its offices in California, but it is incorporated in Bermuda, so your ticket may name a court or a country’s law you would not expect. It also names the company you sailed with. We read the contract before anything is filed, so that your claim goes to the right place.

What if I was hurt on a tour sold through Princess?

Tours sold through the cruise line, including shore excursions and land tours, can carry different responsibility than ones you booked on your own. Because the facts differ from trip to trip, we look at who sold the tour, who ran it and what you signed.

I was hurt boarding a tender boat, does that count?

It can. Boarding a tender in open water is a common source of injury claims at ports where a ship cannot dock, and the same ticket-contract deadlines apply. Whether you have a claim depends on what went wrong, such as the sea conditions, the crew’s help or the equipment.

What if I needed medical care far from a hospital?

A delay in getting care, or poor care in the ship’s medical center, can be part of a claim. Ships on remote routes can be many hours from a hospital, so how quickly the crew acted and called for help can matter. Because every voyage differs, please keep every medical record and write down the times.

What does it cost to find out if I have a case?

Nothing. The review is free, and if we take your case, we work on contingency, so our fee comes only from what we recover for you.
