CUNARD CRUISE INJURY LAWYERS

Injured on a Cunard cruise?

Cunard is known for its crossings between Southampton and New York, as well as cruises and an annual world voyage aboard its famous Queen ships. Days at sea, rough Atlantic weather and long distances from a hospital can all play a part in an injury. If you were hurt, your Cunard ticket can decide where and how fast you have to act.

ABOUT CUNARD

Who you would be making a claim against.

Cunard has been sailing since 1840 and is owned by Carnival Corporation, which also owns Carnival Cruise Line, Princess Cruises and Holland America Line. The line is based in Southampton, England. Like any large cruise operator, it has insurers and in-house lawyers, so what you tell them early can affect your claim.

WHAT TO DO AFTER AN INCIDENT

01

Report it onboard

Ask for a copy of the incident report before you leave the ship.

02

Document the scene

Photograph the hazard, the location, and any posted signage or lack of it.

03

Get seen onboard

A visit to the ship’s medical center creates a record with the date and time. Keep every bill and receipt.

04

Call before you settle anything

What you tell Cunard or its insurers early can affect your claim later, so do not sign a release or accept a payment before you call.

CUNARD-SPECIFIC QUESTIONS

How long do I have to file a claim against Cunard?

Cunard’s ticket contract, like most, can set a short deadline and name the court you must use. Most cruise tickets give you one year to file, and often six months to give written notice. Because the exact terms depend on your ticket, we check the contract that applies to you.

Does the Athens Convention affect my claim?

It may, for voyages that start or end in the UK or Europe, since it is an international treaty about carriage by sea. Whether it applies depends on your itinerary, your ticket and the type of claim. That is the kind of detail a generalist firm can miss.

I was hurt in rough seas on a crossing, can I make a claim?

You may be able to. Rough weather alone does not decide a case. The question is often whether the ship warned guests, secured furniture and kept walkways safe. Because every sailing differs, we look at what the crew knew and did.

Cunard is a British line, so does that change where I can file?

It can. Cunard is based in the UK, and its ticket contract may name a court or a country’s law that differs from what you would expect. We read the contract before anything is filed, so that your claim goes to the right place.

What does it cost to find out if I have a case?

Nothing. The review is free, and if we take your case, we work on contingency, so our fee comes only from what we recover for you.
